Most of us don't play 3DMark so lets look at actual gaming performance.
Benchmarks are run 3 times and the average taken to minimise errors.

Crysis GPU Tests
Crysis was benchmarked at 1920x1200 and 2560x1600 at medium settings.

The difference in Crysis at 1920 x 1200 is negligible between the cards.

At 2560x1600, we can see how the additional 16 SP's on the 8800GTS deliver 16.7% additional performance.

Unreal Tournament 3

In Unreal Tournament 3, the 8800GTS starts to pull away with a 11.8% lead at the lower resolution of 1920x1200.

At 2560x1600, the story repeats again.

 World in Conflict
World in Conflict was run at High settings.  After all, what good is a high end card without eye-candy?

The 88000GTS takes a disgusting 50% lead in World in Conflict at both resolutions!

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Rather than to bore your to death with DirectX performance, we used ET: QW to show the performance differences in OpenGL games.

Just like in DirectX games, the 8800GTS easily takes a 10.8% lead in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.
