There are a number of UMPCs we saw around CeBIT and here are some we feel is the best around from this show. They are from Samsung, ASUS and Digital Cube. The Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC is the successor to the earlier Q1 model and weighs slightly lighter at 690g compared to 780g. It is slightly smaller too although the display is the same as the Q1, a 7" WSVGA. Q1 Ultra runs on a 800MHz Pentium M processor, 1GB DDR2-400 SO-DIMM and has a 60GB 1.8" HDD. In comparison, the current Q1 has 900MHz or 1GHz Celeron ULV processor, 512MB DDR2-400 SO-DIMM and a 40GB HDD. It supports features like 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, HSPDA and mobile WiMax. Interestingly, it runs off a 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium Edition. There are optional add-ons like Finger Print scanner, Dual cameras, navigation pack, UBS keyboard, CD/DVD combo drive, as well as 6-cell battery pack. The battery life of Q1 Ultra using 4-cell battery is approximate 3.5 hours while a 6-cell battery allows up to 6.8 hours.
