Singapore, 10 April 2008 – Consumers can now discover the benefits of home movie making with the launch of a new range of DVD camcorders. Featuring Canon’s new advanced zoom system, the DC330, DC320 and DC310 DVD camcorders will allow users to record life’s memorable moments with high-quality video for convenient viewing.

Magnificent magnification
The new range of DVD camcorders feature a new advanced zoom feature for shooting movies, and offers the highest magnification power for consumer camcorders.

This new technology achieves a higher zoom magnification than optical zoom functions and is achieved by the concurrent use of the optical zoom and digital zoom, enhanced by a larger number of effective pixels.

The DC330 and DC320 camcorders feature a 45x advanced zoom whilst the DC310 features a 41x advanced zoom; thereby allowing users to rely on these camcorders to zoom into close up shots even from a distance.

All three camcorder models offer a 37x optical zoom with electronic image stabilization that helps to keep footage steady, even when the advanced zoom feature is engaged.

Capturing all the details
The new camcorders all offer true wide high resolution 16:9 recording which is ideal for playback on widescreen television. The camcorders incorporate a widescreen 2.7” LCD that will allow for previewing movies in the correct dimensions and a widescreen electronic view finder, allowing users to save on battery power when framing their shots during recording.

At the core of the new DVD camcorder series is Canon’s proprietary DIGIC DV II processor that was originally designed to handle the increased data rate of high resolution footage. With built-in advanced noise reduction technology, DIGIC DV II captures images that are sharper and reproduces colours that are true to life.

Value added features
A convenient switch is located on the side of the camcorder, allowing novice users to start shooting immediately. The camcorder automatically finds the first blank space on the DVD and cuts out the need for fast forwarding or rewinding. Selecting and operating shooting features and functions are equally easy, using the intuitive joystick controller.

To locate a particular scene for playback, users can simply browse through thumbnails on the LCD screen. Finalized DVDs can be played back using a standard DVD player.

In addition, there is also no need to carry an extra video light as the 2.7-inch LCD screen offers enough illumination to act as a secondary video light.

When shooting in a dim or low light environment, users can simply flip over the LCD screen to light up a scene; giving a brighter look too scenes shot under low light conditions.

DVD advantages
With the high resolution 16:9 recording solution and the camcorders’ unique 1.07 megapixel sensor, users can quickly shoot cinematic high-quality movies that can immediately be converted for playback on any DVD player.

With the Canon DC330 camcorder, the recorded video is easily transferred to a computer for post-processing using the bundled software.

For those who desire the convenience of shooting still photographs, the DC330 and DC320 camcorders shot and store 1.07 megapixel images on SD Cards, whilst the DC310 camcorder shoots digital photographs at 800k megapixel resolution.
